Just as I suspected she said with a self satisfied smile. :O)
Mother, daughter and even the Daddy are doing well.
I am truly blessed.
No name yet as she doesn't look like any name they had picked, ah...... she's putting them in their place already.

Now why did you have to go and say that?
The Cattleman and his brother are going away this weekend to San Francisco. A once in a life time birthday Present for their 70 year old father. Have tickets for the 49er's game and the Oakland Raiders game, A hockey game on Friday, I think it is san Jose. Trip has been planned for over a year, all paid for, So Grand Baby or no Grand Baby the trip is on.
Which is actually NOT a problem for me. The only NFL trip this year for the guys, so go nuts and enjoy your tailgating, dress up games and see when you get back.
What does bother me?
A conversation heard in our bedroom sometime last night.
Cattleman: Grey I just wanted you to know that I bought a present for the new baby.
Grey (That would be moi): O.K. .....
Cattleman: I put in the closet behind the other presents we have wrapped.
Grey: O.K.......
Cattleman: I just want her know that I thought of her before I went on this trip.
Insert visual of blink eyed grey here:
Grey ( still moi) : I don't follow....
Cattleman: I just wanted her to have something just from me and to know that I loved her and thought of her before she was even born.
Grey: WTHoodles are you yapping about? Did you have some weird dream message?
Cattleman: No! You just never know (He's not that crazy about flying) and it's important that I know she ( I have the cattleman convinced it's a girl) knows how I feel about her.
Grey: I have never worried about you once when you go on these trips....
What men understand about women can be written on the head of a pin and still leave room for the fairies to dance on it....

One more sleep.
Tomorrow my daughter is scheduled (C-Section) to give birth to my second Grand Baby.
She can hardly wait, : Get it out now is her wish, as is for so many of us ladies at the end.
Enjoy yourself, I keep saying, once she's ( I think it's another girl) out you'll look longingly back on these nights of sleep.
Good luck! I can't wait to meet her, we love her already and if she's anything like her Mamma, she's going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Happenins......
Very busy weekend around here.
Number One son, the car mechanic, came over yesterday to tune up our vehicles, change some tires from winter to summer, replace the Cattleman's brakes. He of course brought his 5 year lady love with for dinner and they announced: Finally he proposed to her and he is going to make an honest woman of her next summer. Great news! We love her and can't wait to see her officially become part of the family. Not that there was ever any question of her qualifications on acceptance in this crazy family, her family is, dare I say, even weirder (to us) then we are, still she is a gem.
Number two son, the one I used to stay up at night and worry about has made giant leaps in maturity (losing the woman of your dreams because you act like a dickhead periodically can do that don't cha know) has started a business and already he has folks standing in line looking to get him to work for them. He is definitely one of those types that has issues taking orders from others and needs to be the boss. I wonder where he gets that from she asks innocently......I am so proud of his complete turn around the last 6 months.
Oldest daughter found out she is walking in her mother's footsteps and having Irish twins. Don't know what Irish twins are? Irish twins are when you have two babies in the space of one year. Apparently we of Irish ( yes I know I usually tout my crazy Welsh side but me Da was Irish) lineage are famous for this....I think I will have a serious talk with her about how their method of birth control does not actually work for them and need to reconsider other methods...Ya think? Still not super excited by Senor Super Sperm, but then I'm not the one he has to please. I still maintain that if he was just a friend of one of my boys I would be like him just fine...still a boy, not yet a man.....I know the Cattleman is still hoping that SSS will fall off the face of the planet if he ignores him long enough, better to revise that strategy honey! Apparently not gonna happen. :O)

La Princesa has arrived
Whooosh what a time!
Today by emergency C-section she was delivered at around 3:20 pm. She weighed in at a mighty 5 pounds even.
Both Mamma and bebe are doing well, I think the Daddy may make it too. :O)
The Cattleman and I have traded places and his getting to hold his first grand child as I type. There will be no getting him off that cloud, he is over joyed.
Now I am off to have a shower, eat a hot lesuierly meal after reasurring the rest of our brood that I did not disappear, will not disappear again......
Conversation heard in my living room tonight.
GL: So you are an Aunt now.
Little one: Really? Not a sister again?
Other little one: I am an ant too? But I wanted to be a snake.
Another little: Snakes are yucky I want to be an elephant.
I see we still have some splainin to do.

All is right in our world tonight, blessings have come to Greys.

So its on..
My daughter being induced in the next 24 hours, the baby still seems to be perfectly formed but much too small. While the baby has gained weight she has fallen to the bottom 3 percentile. So the doctor has decided once the necessary resources are in place nature will be given a wee nudge in the right direction. So we wait by the phone for the call to go.....
I will be in the delivery room at my daughter's request. She thinks my presence and experience will give her confidence and Iwill be able to keep her calm. Oh boy....
Fingers crossed all continues to go well and I am able to be what she needs.
Meanwhile we wait like every other expectant family thru history by baking up a storm. Shortbreads, muffins and bread.

Bullet dodged,
for now anyway.
My daughter has been given a reprieve, they are going to try to keep the baby in for a while longer. She has appointments at the hospital on Thursday, next Monday and again Thursday. They are going to preform an ultra sound each visit and assess their options. She is on complete bed rest until after the birth.
This is good news, better for both of them and I am relieved to say the least, so my daughter is going to bunk out here so she is not alone during the day. I have been upgraded from mere Mamma to the step and fetch it, "I see what your doing and you aren't supposed to" friendly neighbourhood warden Mamma. I think I can handle it just fine.

Time to fasten our seat belts
looks like we are in for a bumpy ride.
Took my daughter to her obstetricians appointment and there appears to be a wee problem. The docs think her placenta is no longer functioning correctly, doing another ultra sound at the hospital early Monday morning... to see if my grand daughter has gained anything, if not they are taking her out immediately. That would be 5 weeks early, she is perfectly formed but only weighs around 4 lbs now and losing ground.
Fingers crossed that all is well with my two little ladies.
This weekend will be spent getting everything ready for the new arrival, busy work to keep hearts and minds calm while we wait.

Clunky shoes required stat!
About Senor Super Sperm, pondering that young one has really gotten me wondering if I am indeedy as crazy as some "might" think.
On one hand he is EXACTLY the kind of person you would open your homestead to in case of SHTF.
He has mad skills in the survival area, outdoors man to the nth degree, professional kayaker (not sure where that would come in handy but it is an accomplishment/asset if rapids ever attack us. :O), excellent fisherman, trapper, can McGyver anything into a useful item, has extensive medical training which he occasionally teaches to others for real money, young, strong, loves to work hard, could chop wood for hours and not break a sweat, and would be thrilled to eat bugs a la what ever, can build a fire in a driving rain, has mad wild crafting skills, can cook anything and make it edible, can handle a knife like nobody else, He even seems to be upbeat and always able to see the bright side and possibilities of every situation. In short just the kind of all around useful great guy that would be an asset......I secretly really like and admire him.....
But, and you know there was going to be a but, as a mate for my daughter and father to my soon to be born grand daughter? He's a flake, a lackadaisical ne'er do well that doesn't seem to be taking this situation seriously enough, a airy fairy dreamer with no concrete road how to get to his dream, an unnecessary risk taker, the guy has no roots, money means zip to him except what he needs right now, not a planner....
Sometimes when I walk by him I have the urge to Mamma him by slapping him upside the head and telling him to smarten up already, you have responsibilities now for crying out loud...so far I have resisted this urge....I think I still secretly like him ....if only he wasn't attached to one of my children he'd be a perfect for them.
I never said I would always make sense...did I?

How the HELL did that happen?
I have a friend that occasionally likes to explain things as mathematical equations, it's pretty cool, so cool in fact that I decided to try it myself, as a lady with an accounting back ground, you would think that this would be situation "pas de sweat, Non" ? Umm non....pas de pas de sweat SVP. How disappointing.
Ovum plus nothings equals nothing, Birth control plus ovum still equals nothing, Birth control plus ovum plus sperm is still nothing, Birth control plus ovum plus sperm plus Antibiotics equals? I am going to be a Granny.
A GRANNY????????????
WTHoodles is that about? This Grey lady just decided a few years ago she was done having children. My butt is not wide like a Granny's, I don't wear clunky ugly Granny shoes, at least I don't think I do, my hair is not Grey like a granny's, these are my teeth, I don't call kids sweety unless I am pissed beyond measure, How the Hell does that happen?
Ohhhhhh yeah I just explained it to ya........ I know, I have children at the age that I was when I had my first , some are even in steady rock solid relationships. You would think I could have anticipated this? It seems when I look at my own children at these ages all I see is soooooo young, sooooo needing to experience life more. Wanting them to have freedom to do, have a safer more solid financial base......oh never mind, they will do what they will do. I have to reminding us it is their life now....Remember when you had to take the hands off and let them be them, totally free to be wrong or right? Ouch it is difficult isn't it?
Jeepers I hope I'm up for it, I hope I can keep me nose out everything. ( You gotta know this is going to be the difficult one) Just be loving, supportive and keep me mouth shut unless asked......unless asked, Keep me mouth shut, keep me mouth shut, keep me mouth shut,...unless asked. Sigh....... Here goes.....
Cattleman is tickled pink, he's ready to be a Grand Papa, but he doesn't think Senor Super Sperm is nearly good enough for his daughter. Shocker that eh? I think he is just a boy not a man yet, I am willing to give him some time to wake up, grow up and impress. Not that it matters what we think of Senor super sperm. She's our daughter, she will decide for herself.
