Our reaction is irrelevant. They are not talking to us. They are talking to our children.
What are they saying? That it’s okay to ostracize, bully and dismiss those who don’t agree that climate change is uber alles (Oops! Godwin alert, Godwin alert) and that skeptics or the children of skeptics are fair game for… whatever.
As there is no real attempt at humour in the video, there’s no point in pretending it’s a parody. It’s instructional. It’s not even aimed at helping children work towards reducing emissions. It’s about helping children take aim at those who do not..
And
Except for the kids who will be downloading that video tonight. Both William Golding (Lord of the Flies) and J.M. Barrie (Peter Pan) knew full well that children need no help in being cruel. But this gives them license and legitimacy.

I lived in England for years, was married to a Brit for almost 6, and continue to remain friends with many english scottish welsh and some irish people as well almost 20 years later - i love the british humor shows. Hysterical stuff. One of my favorites is Blackadder - incidentally the maker of this 1010 vid also did Blackadder - and I still watch many programs when I find them on our tv station (Absolutely Fabulous is my ultimate fave lol).... but I could not find the humor in this video at all. I tried hard to watch it from a comedic standpoint but having the children at the beginning totally ruined any attempt at being more open for me. I kept chanting 'no pressure' to myself and caught that 'joke' but I really didn't get much else out of it.
If this vid was produced by someone trying to make a statement that the Global Warming/Climate Change/Climate Disruption proponents were going overboard with trying to scare people into submission, I would 'get it' (wouldn't like it, but I would understand it) - but this was put out by those proponents! I don't get that at all.
I also recall a year or so ago when an ad came out on british television showing polar bears plummeting to their deaths off of high rise buildings. It was another global warming type ad, and a LOT of people over there complained about it including many of my friends. They said it was in bad taste and upset their children. So why is it that groups like 10-10 try to say it's Westerners who don't 'get' British humor? Their OWN people were complaining about it too.
The video was removed from their site with a comment that 'some' did not like it. SOME my arse! They would not remove a prized mini-movie from their website just because 'some' people complained. But they are getting free publicity by having so many copies up on youtube anyway so I guess that saves them on the cost of people streaming the video on their own website. Who knows, maybe that was their plan all along.
Hey Kez,
I read the non-apology/apology too. the same sentence struck a cord with me.we thought it was funny but "some didn't"???
Wow that was pretty arrogant of them don't cha think? We the artistic intellectual elitists know it's funny but those Neanderthals little folk just aren't at our level, they haven't the capacity to understand . To me it betrayed their whole mindset where they think they are above the rest, makes me wonder if they wished they had a real easy button...
I tried to picture school children watching that and then asking about it. 'oh no, honey, it was just a joke. wasn't it funny?'...'yes it was humor darling, don't you get it? they said no pressure and then blew the children to bits har har har'.....'oh silly child, it IS funny. they wouldn't REALLY do that you know, it's No Pressure'....'no my wee sprog, that was not real blood and guts splattering against the good childrens' faces, it was just pure comedic genius'.... ?????
I can't even imagine Small child watching this and what i would tell them. These people could not have had their whole head in gear, must have been blinded by their own genius and ideology.
