Never was a "fan", hard to understand why this is the song stuck in me head today. (except, you know, the sun shining for a change....)
Looking on the bright side I guess it could have been Olivia Newton John and Mr. Travolta sashaying and bouncing around up there...shudder.
carry on then.

Not so psychedelic this Sunday,
As a child if I wanted to watch TV it was with my mother in the afternoons, she watched every old Hollywood Musical that she could. If I was quiet I didn't have to go for my afternoon nap. Probably the only time I was quiet.
You may be excused if you assume I am going to have Judy belting out Bang bang goes the Trolley ( meet me in St. Louis) or Ms. Monroe shimmy her way through Diamonds are a girl's best friend.
Nope,
Been hearing this in my head off and on for a few days now. Why? I will never know...

Psychedelic sunday,
Getting ready to open up our "summer place" next weekend. Making list after list, packing bin after bin. Can hardly stay home this weekend.
Love this,
Love this,

That's a tad tacky ..
Might have something to do with the little ones running around wearing straw hats, hobby horses and pretending to hold up the stage coach. (have I ever mentioned some days I crave a little piece of quiet?)
But this is the song stuck in my head, that I am grooving to whilst I go about my business...
Much to the chagrin of the Cattleman. :O)
ya all come back now ya hear?

What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here!
Today for your listening pleasure a tune/scene that has been flitting in and out of my head for a few days.
A classic tune from a movie that would never, ever get made in today's politically correct stifle.
I hope you enjoyed that, one of the few "guy" movies that I really appreciated. By far my favorite is the following with the delightful Madeline Khan who knows what it is to be soooooooo tired of playing the games. :O)

Another Musical Genius
that I never quite understood.

Not so psychedelic sunday...
Oh my Lord love a duck!
Until this fine morning I didn't even know that I knew the words to this maudlin, pain in the membrane, never liked you in the first place, song.
Begone vile tormentor.
Apparently rent in my brain is not at a premium these days.....sigh.

For your listening pleasure
It is supposed to be Spring out there, minus 9 and feeling very un-Spring. (No I have no shame about making up words as I go along, should I?) What is it they say?
Yeah.... hope springs eternal. Not that many would accuse me of being an optimist...
It will happen eventually.
P.S. The Cattleman reminded me of this particular piece, he may look like he just crawled off a Harley or a mountain, but he does have "refined" diverse musical taste.

Psychedelic Sunday
I finally gave in and found this on youtube. I've had the Bob Dylan version stuck in my head, which is really odd because according to the Cattleman I lack the appropriate level of taste to appreciate the nuances Mr. Dylan's capabilities ...I hang my head in shame and feel robbed I am sure ....on the other hand......Perhaps a good Animal version will fix 'er right up?

Pshychedelic Sunday
Well....actually not so much.
A slight change of pace: A rather funny visitor's view of good ol Canerder eh? Every cliché in the book, the canal, the red mittens, even caught the Beavertails kiosk that the big Zero got his from, just for you on this fine cool Sunday morning. Enjoy. :O)
Can you spot the cliché he missed?

Pshychedelic Sunday
Family legend has it that back in the day, in Old Montreal, my Auntie worked in a popular side walk cafe frequented by the intellectual University crowd. One fine summer a homely young man came and sat at her table, chatted they did. Kabitzed they did. A girl knows when she is being hit on even if she has been brought up in a sheltered religious home.
Day after day this young man came and had a beverage or a meal. Finally she took him up on his offer to join him for a meal elsewhere. While he was nothing that she would dare bring home to her Mamma or Daddy, he was rather sweet and very much a gentleman who miraculously grew less homely with every meeting.
The result of this fairly tale romance? Absolutely nothing, no sparks, no lecherous tales of being jumped in the car, no out of hand behaviour with drugs, no drunkenness, no gossip, just a couple of hours with a nice, funny guy whom my Auntie was told was a bit of a singer.
This was that man:
I would just like to say that Mr. Cocker is awful y lucky he wasn't born in today's age as his swaying back and forth and hand flapping would have been reason for interested parties to have him diagnosed , medicated and subject to brain repatterneing for Aspergers syndrome.

Psychedelic Sunday
Some how today the Cattleman, my daughter and I got in this huge discussion about one of my favorite bands and what their songs really mean.
This song par example:
My daughter thought it was about sex...SEX? are you kidding? It be about drugs...right?
Heh...according to Wiki: Lead singer John Kay wrote the song; the lyrics "I like to dream, right between my sound machine" came from his inspiration from listening to a hi fi stereo system he bought with royalties from his first album.
Well now thats kinda boring isn't it...who would have thunk that? Seems so ordinary and mundane for a Born to be wild kinda guy. Non?
Now take my ultimate favorite tune of theirs:
Now it pretty obvious it is about drugs right? For me? Not so much...... it is about the evils of ( feel free to insert your pejorative right here). How it will take your soul if you let it. Look at some of the lyrics. I just see so many folks lead joyless dead lives on a rat wheel in pursuit of the next perfect granite counter top, big screen T.V. vaycay or car. Maybe we all of have our "drug" of choice for comfort of mind and soul eh?
Go figure, I know it seems pretty clear cut but it works for little old convoluted me....art, everyone sees what they wanna see I guess.
You know I smoked a lot of grass.
Oh Lord! I popped a lot of pills.
But I've never touched nothin'
That my spirit couldn't kill.
You know I've seen a lot of people walking 'round
With tombstones in their eyes.
But the pusher don't care
If you live -- or if you die.
God Damn! The pusher.
God Damn! The pusher.
I said God Damn! God damn the pusher man.
You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With a lump of grass in his hand.
But the pusher is a monster
Not a natural man.
The dealer for a nickel
Goin to sell you lots of sweet dreams.
Ah...but the pusher will ruin your body;
Lord he'll leave your mind to scream.
God Damn! The pusher.
God Damn! God damn the pusher.
I said God Damn! God damn the pusher man.
Well now if I were the president of this land
You know I'd declare total war on the pusher man.
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he run,
And I'd kill him with my bible, and my razor and my gun....
GOD DAMN! The pusher
God damn the pusher.
I said God damn! God damn the pusher man!
