You may have a spine,

But other politicians don't:

This teacher complaining, they're getting four-to-five percent salary increases a year in a zero percent inflation world; they get free health benefits from the day they're hired--for their entire family--until the day they die. They believe they're entitled to this shelter from the recession when the people who are paying for that shelter are the people who have been laid off, who have lost their homes, had their hours cut back, and all we asked them to do was freeze their salary for one year and pay one-and-a-half percent of their salary for their health benefits. For the average teacher in New Jersey, you're talking about $750 a year for full-family health coverage. Now, I don't think that's a lot to ask, and I don't think we can continue anymore to be having the good people of New Jersey who have been laid off and all the rest--as much as I love teachers--you know, everyone's got to be part of the sacrifice.

First of all, they're not taking any cuts. I asked them to take cuts, and they said no. So, what cuts are they taking? These teachers are still getting their four or five percent increases. That interplay that you just saw was about me trying to convince people that they need to take a freeze, but, in the end, they didn't. The state teachers union said--they had a rally in Trenton against me. 35,000 people came from the teachers. You know what that rally was? The "me first" rally. "Pay me my raise first. Pay me my free health benefits first. Pay me my pension first. And everybody else in New Jersey, get to the back of the line." Well, you know what? I'm not going to sit by and allow that to go unnoticed, so we'll shine a bright light on it, and we'll see how the people react. But I think we are seeing how the people of New Jersey are reacting, and that's how you make it politically palatable in other states in the country. Just shine a bright light on greed and self-interest."

Umm is it possible he is a genuine mole or just another lying politician speaking "gonna get me some more votes" speak?

Mr. Christie is NOT wrong, but I always hesitate to appreciate a politico's motives for saying the right things, especially if he can't deliver.   Government workers are clueless but the real world, add to that more and more of the population that is getting very tired of their act? That is not a good recipe for peace between the two sides.

A honest man that speaks truth or just another Christians and Lions promoter?

You know that mouse situation?

A conversation heard in my living room last night.

The Cattleman: I was thinking...

Grey: Yes????

The Cattleman: About that mouse situation....

Grey: Yes what about it?

The Cattleman: Kinda puts a whole new complexion on the "Curious how most of our bug bites are below our knees this year" conversation we had.....

Grey comprehension dawning: @*&^% Dirty rat...

Can I can it or not?

Recently I have had a small amount of money fall in my lap. Yup it happens sometimes. My usual mode is to have a project or plan for just about every cent to make the most of it for my family. But this amount is not enough to really do anything with that will make a real difference to my end goals. SO what to do.

Pee it away? Nope.

Put it on debt load? Probably smart, but that plan is going well and it really would not change the outcome by much.

So I decided to do something extravagant yet very practical at the same time, Brilliant plan as I get to buy something I Have been salivating over for a long time and it helps us towards our goals of being more independent at the same time. It will also get a lot of stuff out of the freezer and onto shelves, save energy and precious space. Win, win right?

Well not so much. I never understand what is going to get my back up, things that one wouldn't think   do and those that one would  think should don't. I guess that the contrary female in  me. :O)  I have been looking for an All American no gasket pressure canner for years, I repeat years. Now these beauties cost an arm and a leg new so I have been scouring the available sites to score one used. No luck I am afraid. I guess those that can do and those that don't have no clue or interest in what it is when doing Granny's estate or something.

I recently found a Canadian distributer of this sweet baby that is within an hour or two's drive from my village:

http://www.pressurecooker-outlet.com/941.htm

Now in the US this baby sells for a whopping $365, thats a lot of canning to be done to make it pay for it's self if saving money is your goal. It's not my only goal in owning it...

Now I went to my "local" store to look at it and it sells for $699. plus HST (15%) WTHoodles? $330 difference, Our dollar is very close now, why the big difference? They have no clue at the store, I was assured it certainly is NOT mark up, they suggested various levels of government duty, shipping, levies etc....Yeah I'll by that. But I won't buy it. I have looked around the net for Canadian distributors and they all charge around the same plus shipping.......It just burns my britches that there is this huge price hike from the US to us.

I know I want this Cadillac of canning.

I know I need it eventually.

I know I have the cash now.

I know I am being silly, this is found free money so to speak, but still I find I can't do it. What the Hoodles, I got to work on this "it has to be perfect or forget it" thing I have going on.....

Perhaps I should go for a smaller scale model? Nope, go big or go home for my clan, for the amount of food I need to can for my brood? Anything smaller and I am looking at something that really doesn't do the job completely.

Oh during my research I also found out I can not use this baby or any really good solid canner on my ceramic stove top. A stove top that I bought 14 years ago back when  stoves were all part of the look of the "decor" not just utility items. Sigh...........Prehaps move up the purchase of the new gas stove by two years?

Cattleman says buy it, we need it and use it on the BBQ. Right.............like that will work........

Goodness now even free money is an issue? Silly silly silly........unfortunately that's where I got myself stuck right now. I think I will pull a Scarlett and fiddle dee dee, think about this on some far off tomorrow....

You mean he lied to get into your panties?

never say so...Thats unheard of.

Sabbar Kashur, 30, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Monday after the court ruled that he was guilty of rape by deception. According to the complaint filed by the woman with the Jerusalem district court, the two met in downtown Jerusalem in September 2008 where Kashur, an Arab from East Jerusalem, introduced himself as a Jewish bachelor seeking a serious relationship. The two then had consensual sex in a nearby building before Kashur left.

So she meets a guy and he tells her he is a Jew and wants an old ball and chain, same day she gives up the honey looking to purchase said man's future potential earnings, wallet and assets with apparently her only asset. (because brains certainly aren't in her mix)
When she later found out that he was not Jewish but an Arab, she filed a criminal complaint for rape and indecent assault.
Well colour me old fashioned, moralistic and all but maybe, just maybe if she like ..talked to him, knew him more then two hours before forking over in the hopes of entrancing him with her horizontal moves, she might have figured this out all on her itty bitty own?

Because you gotta know if he was indeedy Jewish he would have been her soul mate and father of all her inseminated eggs. He would have called back, it would have all worked out perfectly according to her plans. That must be how it plays out in her mind.

Segal said: "The court is obliged to protect the public interest from sophisticated, smooth-tongued criminals who can deceive innocent victims at an unbearable price – the sanctity of their bodies and souls. When the very basis of trust between human beings drops, especially when the matters at hand are so intimate, sensitive and fateful, the court is required to stand firmly at the side of the victims – actual and potential – to protect their wellbeing. Otherwise, they will be used, manipulated and misled, while paying only a tolerable and symbolic price."

Sorry I had to go find something to retch in......Unbearable price? Sanctity of bodies and souls? Innocent victims? Intimate, fateful and sensitive? What the hell are they yapping about? Again no personal responsibility here for little Miss fork it over in a few hours. Can she chalk it up on the bedpost for experience sake? Hell no not our victim......Poor women they still neeeed protecting from the oldest game in the world don't cha know.

I can't believe a real court did this.....scratch that, I can believe it, I just don't want to.

Detective GL and C are on the case

After taking everything out of the mouses den, the storage area under our bed we found where the @&^* mouse was coming in from.

The water pump housing is under there too. If you crank your head side ways way over to the far left corner you can see the ground from a spot where the spray foam insulation was removed by the @&^* in question. So steel wool has been packed into it and when next we go into town we will get some spray foam or caulking to pour over top to solidify the  barrier and close up his entrance way permanently.

I took pictures but I can't seem to get enough light in that awkward spot under the bed to make it visible.

Again I went thru every cupboard, nook and cranny of this place and there is NO evidence of our mousey visitor to be found elsewhere. Could it be that it was afraid of my dogs, my children perhaps and just kept to this one safe place? I have no clue.

I laid out all of my equipment outside, washed it as best can be and inspected it for damages. Throwing away some fabric, going to be able to salvage my quilt tops with just good washings, no chew holes there thank goodness. Those are the quilts tops I managed to make this past winter and had plans of putting them together , finishing them off. I was lucky I lost nothing of value in regards to artistic value or time equity. Lucky indeed.

After vacuuming and shampooing ( Carpet cleaner scored from a neighbour!) the area, I feel fine about using the same spot for my sewing equipment and quilting items.

The cattleman has managed to score some traps from neighbours but hopefully we have convinced this little guy ( notice it is still male?) that this is not a safe place to be living if continued living is it's primary goal.

Why you dirty rat.

Since time began my critters have always fallen asleep to the humming of my sewing machine. I sew just about everything, except pants, I suck at pants, I hate pants, what I am good at is quilting, what I love is quilting. Hmmmm I wonder of there is some sort of a connection there.

This summer has been a wee bit different as we have been settling into our new own easy bake oven. (Summer trailer at the lake). The Cattleman has been working hard, built us a 12 by 36 foot deck, platforms of our outdoor shower. (don't want all those sandy feet and derrières traipsing thru my new trailer now). The platform for the out door fridge and the one for the BBQ. Even threw on a add a room sized 11 feet by 23 feet. A beautiful place he is building us and all with his sweat equity and best of all paid for cash on the barrel head, not a drop of it on credit. So we/he have been busy, him building, me keeping the critters out of what is left of his hair, and then there is this mobile internet stick thingy that I  have that seems to suck up my "quiet time" attention at times.

I make a quilt for each and every new addition to the family, nieces, nephews, my own critters too. So here I am about to be a  GRANNY,  no that can not be right, oh here this works, Mamma of a child that is about to be Mamma.  Anyway here I was sitting with this quilt dancing in my head, AH HA! Off to check the until now ignored quilting equipment, material, sketch pad to inventory what I have stored in the space under our bed and get started.

And what to my wondering  eyes do appear?  But one miniature rat and eighty thousand poops dear.........

He (sorry guys but it has to be male I am so PO'd at it) has chewed the be jabbers out of my batting:

Photobucket

Pooped and fiddled with a finished quilt top and chewed up other material.

Photobucket

And made a nest in a bag with a pair of shoes, cozy retreat non? Apparently mice poop where they sleep. Where we sleep.

Photobucket

WThoodles? I have ripped this place apart and there is absolutely no sign, I repeat, no sign of a mousey squatter anywhere else in my very own easy bake oven. No where. It must be going out to eat.....

But this does explain why Bear and Lola would periodically wake us with general growling and unease. I guess I will have to bring up my CSI type light that makes biological stains glow in the dark to make sure I have it all clean and right again..  Carpet cleaner, bio enzyme cleaner, you name it I will implement it.

You know this means WAR don't you.......I will discombobulate this little squatter. Mouse in my little tin house? I don't think so....

Weather Tubin

Summer breeze makes me feel fine...

There is NO left wing media conspiracy.......

These people are professionals with too much to lose to let their personal feelings/opinions interfere with their "work".:

Watching this all at home were members of Journolist, a listserv comprised of several hundred liberal journalists, as well as like-minded professors and activists. The tough questioning from the ABC anchors left many of them outraged. “George [Stephanopoulos],” fumed Richard Kim of the Nation, is “being a disgusting little rat snake.”

Others went further. According to records obtained by The Daily Caller, at several points during the 2008 presidential campaign a group of liberal journalists took radical steps to protect their favored candidate. Employees of news organizations including Time, Politico, the Huffington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Guardian, Salon and the New Republic participated in outpourings of anger over how Obama had been treated in the media, and in some cases plotted to fix the damage.

In one instance, Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”

Just three pages outlining the angst of 100's of reporters etc who were outraged, worked in concert, some even went on to work for the Obama administration, because they could see the dream of getting rid of BushHitler like Republicans with Obama the hopey changey feel good Messiah. Imagine that dream slipping away over a simple thing as worshiping under an "God damn America" hating, whitey hating pastor for 26 years, not gonna happen on their watch.

Heh....small potatoes.

Now repeat after me. Conspiracy theories of left wing media are ridiculous and make you look silly and hard to take seriously. Get it?

H/T SDA

Now back to your regularly scheduled panic....

You can almost officially stop panicking about the Swine flue, any day now.......no really:

World Health Org. may declare end to swine flue pandemic. They are having a meeting. Who says bureaucracy grinds sloooooowly?

"Swine flu emerged in early 2009 in the United States and Mexico and spread around the world in just six weeks, killing thousands of people. It hit children and young adults especially hard."

Well now no mention that thousands of Canadians alone die every year from complications of the ordinary every day flu.

Feel free to panic away again until they tell ya officially you can stop.

Bubbles bubbles toil and troubles....

I am sad to report that I may have lost a good friend because of my Bubbles post.  Took exactly 1/2 hour before a friend called concerned where I may have gotten my anti-police stance. To be more then fair they asked me to explain my position, any incidence that may have coloured my feelings and proceeded to explain how anyone who disobeys an officer or taunts an officer in that manner deserves what ever they get.

I thought the young lady was being Gandhiesque, they thought she was just being a bitch and deserved what she got.

I completely understand their position, police do a hard job making people feel protected and they want those officers to be honoured for their sacrifices. I just happen to think that there is nothing on the books that says you can't blow bubbles in the presence of police officers and also there is no law that says you get arrested for being irritating.

None of my usual sarcasm at play here, I regret that this is something that gets me stricken from the friends list and not just one of those agree to disagree things.

Sometimes opinions spoken/blogged suck for all manner of reasons.

Hard day at the office Bubbles?

Lots of things have been written on the G8 and G20 police abuses, the repeal of human rights in Toronto by secret legislation, the complicity of feds, provincial, city levels of government, the agreement of all political parties on the measures taken, so why would I bother to heap more scorn on the thieves of freedom with a second post?

Why because some of it is actually funny hunny.

Exhibit A: Police orifice arrests girl for assault after she blew bubbles in his direction after she was ordered, do you understand ORDERED to OBEY her superior being to cease and desist such a heinous action as to blow bubbles. Regrade SVP:

What a brave soldier, what a monument to his authority, position of responsibility he is, what an example of restraint and understanding of his role in society. His family must be so proud of his work and contributions to society. Daddy please come home safe from them there bubble attackers, please Daddy.....shudder ......

Uh...oh Adam "Bubbles" Joesph has a face book page and he lists his occupation as " I collect Human Garbage". Sweet attitude non?

Awwww he likes to make people laugh, I gotta say he made me laugh, the self important taxeating protect and serve kinda guy that he is. I bet he is making a lot of folks laugh lately.

Karma.

That was one fantastic

magical evening!

What isn't fantastic are the perfectly lousy pictures still sitting in my cell phone, for want of a specific USB cable, apparently the only cable that my collective family and friends do NOT own. (I didn't feel like having my camera taken at point of entry.) The great pictures that a friend took that they still haven't emailed me. (She deposited her big camera in her monstrous cleavage just prior to point of entry. Hmmmmm somehow that sounds kinda dirty) So I am going to use a picture from the newspaper review. I'm sure they won't mind.....

The Cattleman, myself and assorted Friends made up a group of about ten among the 35 thousand folks who made their way to Ottawa to watch Carlos Santana wail away with his guitar last night. It was a perfect evening, weather co-operated, not to hot to dance on the grass from beginning to end. He was wonderful, his band was fantastic, Lou Diamond Phillips still looks as beautiful as ever. Almost all the folks around us were great, there to have fun, no mischief or out of handers were to be had.

These are the things I learned last night.

It was obvious that some of the the more nostalgic semi- geriatric crowd scored some Ghanga off the grandkids because there was a lot more coughing then smooth inhale from some very rusty tokers. It was kinda comical actually and added to the fun of the evening. :O)

The odds of being stepped on by elephant foot sized guys is increased depending on what they are carrying in their hands. If it is beer or alcohol they are too busy looking at it sloshing around, wouldn't want a drop to fall now would we? If they are carrying a duffel bag, two folding chairs and holding a lady's hand while guiding her? They never step on you......

Contrary to all current wisdom on the matter, I didn't mind the crowds at all. Curious that, I just hated the  actual car ride, most folks suck in my estimation, as drivers in the city.

I don't hate the city....to visit.

This old married couple can still bust a move and keep it going, we have staying power.

Never forget how small the world is, I meet someone I had lost touch with about 10 years and it was like putting on an old favorite sweater. Cool.

I owe many thanks to the goddess of the cast iron bladder. There was no way I was getting any where near those porta potties unless  death due to self induced drowning was immanent. Later it became apparent that even if I was desperate there was no way I was going to get with in 100 deep of those things it was so packed with people. Never even came close, never had to break stride, never even crossed my mind once Carlos hit the stage.

So many blessing be upon you Oh Goddess of the Cast Iron Bladder, you capped off my perfect Santana Night .

Oh yeah the pics that are NOT my pics. :)

Here is Carlos:

And here I am, among the throng:

Yeah the one in the back waving the umbrella.

Be rocking it out tonight

To day is the day that I am making the trek to the city to rock it out with Carlos Santana. I hate the city and I hate crowds...alot.

But for Carlos, I am willing to deal. :O)

Got our modified bobs , empty camera phones, lots of friends to meet and the Cattleman, no "child care providers" (family) backed out with suddenly pressing emergencies  and we are good to go.

The orchestrated Demonization

of Capitalism and Oil continues unabated. The capacity of sheep to lap up the fecal matter of the male bovine seems endless.

Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey wants to know whether a quid pro quo led to the 2009 decision by U.K. and Scottish lawmakers to set the Libyan terrorist free. Megrahi was sentenced to life in prison in 2001, but released last year when doctors said he had only three months to live before dying of cancer. A doctor now says he could live a decade, according to the Associated Press. The senator wants to know whether the bomber's release was connected to a BP plan to drill for oil off Libya, which the senator says could earn the company up to $20 billion.

Weather Tubin

Hot!

Thank God for Toronto

and it's ban on guns or this could have gotten out of hand.

OMGoodness there are folks on the message board calling for a ban of guns...insert blinky eyed smiley here. I want a refund of my tax dollars that went to pay for their eduction, stupid state education....

Land of the Free?

Not so much, more like Home of the Slave.

Detroit parents may get more than detention for missing their child's parent-teacher conference.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is pushing for an ordinance that would allow schools to punish parents who repeatedly miss parent-teacher conferences. The punishment- up to three days in jail.

Worthy plans to officially present the proposed ordinance in Mid-August. She hopes that this ordinance would make parents be more responsible and involved in their child's education, ultimately keeping more children out of trouble.

This raises concerns with some parents, however, who are worried that it could target single parents or those who cannot take off work. Others say that just because a parent misses a meeting, doesn't necessarily mean he or she is negligent.
Oh boy, where could one start and when could one ever finish with this piece  of  " but it's for the sake of the children" horse pucky?

I suffer the state run school system because I feel it is a valuable venue to role model and teach my children passive Resistance, how to "pass" in sheeple land effectively and still keep one's ideals. This idea is truly bizarre as far as I am concerned. The day you have to go to your boss for an acceptable excuse slip to miss an appointment with a public "servant" is the day you need to hang your head and admit that the state owns your behind and you are in fact their servant.

These people are in effect modeling and telling your children that they have authority over you the parent, that the parents are subservient to the of the state school system and can and should be discounted by the children if the parent was so unfortunate as think, say or do anything contrary to the school agenda. Beautiful..

As a side concern: I guess short term Foster care will see a boom in business then? Or will the teachers be having the kids bunking in at their house? I see more taxation required to support the increased court time, defense/persecution attorneys, jail time and of course foster care. Bonus for them taxeaters wouldn't you say?

Like Mammary Glands on a Bull.

Very useful legislation,

300,000 complaints of violations of the No call list and this is the service you get:

Responding to a query by Liberal Senator Percy Downe, the federal government said it has imposed $73,000 in fines

My that does seem kinda low for over 300,000 complaints doesn't it? But wait.......

in less than two years — but collected only $250 as of March 1.
.

Huh?
Am I ever happy we dipped into the taxpayers pocket to set up this Paper Tiger, make work bureaucracy, it has paid us back in spades hasn't it?

So now I wonder how long it will be before allllll telemarketers ignore it because they know nothing will happen to them?

As a side question: Who needs a government department or thinks it is the government's job to stop folks from calling them? You have a phone, you have a choice to answer or not, there is no gun at your head making you get up from your dinner table to talk to these bozos is there?

Escape to the Village

I usually do NOT complain about the heat. Hot is good, 20 below is bad. But, and you knew there was going to be a but, we are going thru record high temps right now. These temps have not been seen in recorded history. ( for what that is worth.)

We woke up on Monday morning to 45C heat, thats about 115 F for my imperialistic friends. Thats a bit much for this Canadian girl, we don't deal well with this heat. Sure, we can and did spend the days keeping cool in the lake. One can keep comfortable during the day by keeping to the shade and the lake, eating several light meals, drinking lots of fluids. It can and was being done. But the thing that made me pack it in for our little Village was the nights.

Seems the heat magically changed my comfortable summer home away from home into our very own personal Easy bake oven. No relief from the heat during the evening/night as per the usual custom. The nights were not dipping in temperature low enough  nor long enough in order for the critters to get good sleeps. Thank goodness we had an appointment on Tuesday to go to. So a quick trip home to do laundry and see a Doc has morphed into a four day respite from the extreme heat.

Going back Friday regardless of the temp, wasting my summer at home, gotta get back, going thru with drawls. Bring a tent like we used to if it's too hot to sleep in our very own easy bake oven. Plan formed, now to make it so!

A good plan

in theory.

What do you do when you have one dog that listens and comes back every time, (that would be Bear) but you have this other smaller dog ( that would be Lola the 5lb wonder dog) that will not come for anything? Why you come up with a plan that is beautiful in it's simplicity of execution and Voila you have a doggie stress free walk.

See I'm good at this improvising solutions, pretty cool eh?

Uh oh.....

we're all in

That doesn't look right somehow.

To serve and protect,

They don't send police for this anymore,

LAVAL, Que. – A mother and a daycare teacher tried desperately to free a 15-month-old baby boy from a locked car in the scorching heat Monday after emergency services refused to send help.

The boy, named Michael, was accidentally locked in the car around 3 p.m. in front of a Laval daycare. The temperature outside was 32 C.

32C is about 100F, 115F with the humidity for my imperialistic friends.

She hung up and called 911, still in a state of panic.
"The operator told me that for them, this wasn't an emergency, that they don't send the police for this," the teacher explained.

Police in the city stopped opening locked car doors about 10 years ago.

Good to know, police do not come to mere babies baking in a car, thats not dangerous at all, you just get charged with  manslaughter or it's equivalent if the baby dies right? Thank Goodness she had a hubby a short phone call away:

In the end, little Michael was only locked in the car for about 10 minutes before Lefebvre's husband arrived with a hammer and a blanket and broke one of the rear windows.

Hmmmm wonder how cooked baby Mikey would have gotten if hubby wasn't available and a quick thinker? I think I would have busted out the window right away but who am I to judge someone who doesn't think of it right away or may think they don't have enough strength, didn't have an object to do the deed or is worried about hurting the baby while doing it. Panic is a funny thing, we don't all think clearly, thats why its called panic.

Even if they didn't send police officers, they could have kept me on the line to guide me and calm me down," Lefebvre added

Hey maybe 911 could have suggested she bust out the window with something and wait on the line till the deed is done? Naaaa, obviously not their problem anymore. Lady, your too nice, you should be outraged,  911 (dial a prayer) is paid for with taxpayer stolen funds. But now you know 911 and "to serve and protect, policemen are your friends that keep you safe" is a big fat sham.

I'd like to add an addendum: I do not absolve the absent minded Mom of her responsibility for accidentally locking the child in the car, but that is NOT the point of this post, is it? It's about the official response of those who pretend they exist to be of service to us.

Wanna see what State run Health care gets ya?

So you get raped in Canada's capital city and you screw up your courage to actually report it, lets see what in theory is supposed to transpire.

Muonde said the city has a Sexual Assault Protocol made up of local partners such as the Ottawa Hospital and police.

When a woman is brought to the Civic emergency room, where the sexual assault support centre is located, they are supposed to given priority and a nurse is to be on call 24 hours a day.

“A woman is supposed to be seen within an hour,” said Muonde.

Excellent, now lets see what actually happens shall we?

An hour later she woke up with her shorts around her ankles in the Henderson Ave. and Osgoode St. area.

She didn’t know where she was or how she got there and police believe she was drugged by her assailants.

They take her to THE hospital that specializes, has a specific unit to deal with this situation, it's gonna be all good right? Not so much.

A 21-year-old Ottawa woman who had been sexually assaulted was refused immediate treatment at the Ottawa Hospital over the weekend, the Sun has learned.

The woman was taken to the Civic hospital early Sunday morning to have a rape kit completed but Ottawa police were told there were no sexual assault nurses available.

The victim was given three options: Lie in a bed until Monday morning when a nurse would be available — but she wouldn’t be able to shower — or go to either Cornwall or Renfrew hospitals.

She ended up being taken to Renfrew to get treatment.

Ummmm Renfrew is a small town up the valley, about an hour and a half away, that has a population of just over 7900.  You have got to be kidding me...

Eight women are sexually assaulted every day on average but only one reports it, according to Ottawa police.

No kidding, wonder why that might be? Betcha that pitiful number is gonna take a bit of a deeper dip in the near future.

I happened to catch the hospital admin on the radio today and he said it was NOT the first time nor would it be the last time due to "Staffing issues". Right.........thats OK/reasonable then eh?

No competition equals no competence.

A new one on me.

A conversation around the camp yesterday:

Laddy: I'm going back swimming as soon as supper is done, it's hot.

TGL (moi): Sure as long as X (a older swimming buddy) can go with you or you gotta wait until I can come down with the others.

Laddy: Awwww Muuuuuuuum...... (pause in conversation)

Laddy: Diego is only eight and he gets to go around the rain forest, ride cars, boats, save animals alllll by himself.......

Little one (ever her adored brothers allies): Yeah and Dora is like 6 and she goes everywhere with only a monkey no Mommy and Daddy...

Blink, blink goes I. A pause where I assimilate the fact that my little critters are attempting to use fictitious characters to strengthen their position.  Two can play that game.

TGL (moi again): Tell ya what. When you have  a camera crew following your every move you can go by yourself, OK?

Laddy: Muuuum there are no camera men for CARTOONS, they are drawerings, not real.

TGL (Moi yet again): Glad to hear it, who wants ice cream for dessert?

We don't need no stinkin grounds...

We are the US boarder patrol.

Listen up fellow sheeple and observe this Canadian Citizen self important wack job questioning the process gives the thugs some lip and get his well deserved what for.

Ecoute:

Good to know: When federal official thugs grab you and you pull your arm away it is assault of said offcials and obstruction of justice. Go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars. Cool.

Y'all have fun cross boarder shopping now ya hear?

Side note: They catch three terrorists daily, using this very same tactic, according to the serve and protect mouth piece in the recording, God these guys are good, eh?

An unholy alliance starts to crack

Oh goody a new set of "Christians and Lions" to keep the masses occupied.

When law and order Conservative ideals runs smack against their Libertarian compatriot's, fire works and just general nastiness ensues.

Some folks seem to think it is just peachy keen that Civil liberties be suspended, by Secret Provincial legislation,  in order to keep the peace and let the Popo do their job during the G8, G20 meetings last week. Anyone who got caught up in mêlée , were mistreated by our humble public servants had what was coming to them. After all what the heck was any one doing, working, living, in Toronto, the biggest city in Canada, during this special time? Who would be so dumb as to insist that they had a right to be anywhere, go anywhere,  near downtown and complain about being beat, hassled, searched, detained?

The most curious was the assault I saw on Jesse Rosenfeld, a contributor to the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper. Jesse and I were both told by police on Saturday night to leave a downtown Toronto location, where a crowd of a few hundred mostly middle class people had the temerity to gather, then sit in the street and offer a simple message: that despite the gathering of the most important leaders in the world, citizens don't suddenly lose their right to free speech or freedom of assembly.

One officer told me, leave now, or be arrested. I didn't see how I could do much reporting in a jail cell, so I was "escorted" away from the crowd by another officer.

Rosenfeld, however, firmly but unceasingly, requested the right to stay and continue to cover the story he was witnessing. As a result, two officers held him while a third punched him hard in the stomach. As Rosenfeld collapsed forward, that same third officer drove his elbow into Rosenfeld's back.

It seemed an unnecessary overreaction -- three officers to subdue an asthmatic journalist who looked all of 5'6" tall, maybe 145 pounds, and, I later learned, is missing one kidney.
They were after all trying to keep you and your little dog safe too, those nice sweet self sacrificing police officers, who put their little lives on the line for us daily, have such hard jobs. It's the sheep's job to make the herding easier, not question authority or insist on one's piddleing rights. Get with the program already....Egads.

Thank you Mark Steyn, the man with the sarcastic perfected prose. :

If you reflexively defend lazy and incompetent policing, you'll soon find yourself having to defend lazy, incompetent and murderous policing.

A  big tado about nothing really, so much angst about the police actions and the whole point of the exercise has been missed by all.

Rights are not rights if the government can suspend them with a magic pen in secret. We got nothing, we were shown we got nothing and most still don't see it, we have what our betters suffer to bestow and it all can and will be taken away at a moments whim of our dear devoted servants.

Lesson learned? Nope....Folks are toooooo busy rooting for either the Christians or Lions... not even close to seeing Nero playing the Violin.
