One of life's little mysteries

What's up with socks?

How is it possible that I can put guaranteed pairs in the washing machine and when they come out of the dryer I only have one to the set?

Do socks have secret lives we know nothing about?

Are there underground catacombs that connect washers and dryers around the world that we mere  humans can't access, see or sense?

Do they get tired of their partner and go off and seek new ones?

Do they grow weary of my detergent and seek machines with better fabric softener or *gasp* a human that uses bleach?

How is it that (occasionally) socks will show up in a size that NO one currently wears? One offs  that I know I have never bought in my life?

And just where do the missing socks go?

Where do those other's come from?

Questions that will be left unanswered....

Move over Alec Baldwin

You might be addicted to "Words with Friends" If :

You go to a sporting event and you see a player's jersey name has a  Z in it and you immediately wonder if the game would accept it or if you see some long name like ...oh I don't know.... Klinkhammer... and  you think to your self:

Aw man the words and points I could make with the letters with that name....

I find this hard

to swallow.....

A Queens mom says Toys R Us store sold her a kid-friendly "Go, Diego, Go!" video that turned out to be an X-rated porno.Candice Connor is appealed after sitting down with her children to see a cartoon, and ended up getting a full hardcore pornography movie.
Instead of getting "Nickelodeon All-Star Sports Day" featuring Diego, she got a graphic video titled "Bubble Butt Bonanza No. 17."
Right.......

It's not about the money."
Connor showed The News her receipt for the $12.99 DVD and the plastic wrapping it was sealed in when she bought it.
As of last night, she had not contacted the Toys "R" Us store, saying she was waiting to hire a lawyer, he said she called Nickelodeon, but got an unsatisfactory response.

Right...It's never about the money honey, it's the principle of the thing,  Lawyers are always needed to hammer home the principle. Unlucky gal seems she is the only person to have suffered from this hard....er..ship. :O)

Depending on the kindness of strangers.

Not always a good plan.

Josh Brown’s eyes welled up as he recalled desperately clinging on to his friend who dangled 10 metres above the ground at an Uxbridge ski resort — and the shock when he slipped from his grasp.

“It was the longest five minutes of my life,” said Josh, 13, sitting outside his friend Kyle Armstrong’s room at Sick Kids hospital on Sunday, where the boy is being treated for seven fractured vertebrae, two broken ribs, and a punctured lung.
Kyle plunged onto the snowy hill of Lakeridge Ski Resort around 6:15 p.m. Friday, after slipping under a safety bar of an ascending ski lift. The two Whitby boys insist that Josh’s ski pole was the cause.
“I guess my pole got in the way when he sat down and so it acted as a ramp and brought him down,” he said.

That's a very unfortunate accident, but when you do sports you take risks associated with that sport.

However:

While some are hailing Josh as a “young hero,” others are raising questions about why two adults riding in the same chair didn’t offer help.
“I’m talking to them saying, ‘Please help me,’ and they’re just like, ‘You gotta pull yourself up, bud,’ ” said Josh.
Witnesses told staff at the ski resort that the two men were seen skiing away after the fall.

WTHeck? Two  supposedly grown "men" sit beside this young man, on the same bench and just offer pithy advice to pull yourself up? A-Holes.

So no kindness in this case from strangers, how about your neighbours?

Again..some not fairing any better.

A 66-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease froze to death after she collapsed on a driveway near her home Monday. Neighbours heard her cries for help, but no one responded and no one called 911.
The temperature dipped down to minus 20 degrees Celsius Sunday night and early Monday and an extreme cold weather alert was in effect across Toronto.

And.

There were also scratch marks on the screen door of the home. The woman had called out for help and neighbours heard her, yet no one came outside to assist her or even called 911. "I can tell you around 2am, through our investigation, there's a couple of neighbours in the area who did hear a scream," Toronto Police Sgt. David Dube said.
"I think one of them actually saw this person in a bit of distress but didn't know what was going on but did not call us," added Dube.

Well isn't that special?  The evolution of Civilization is happily trotting along, Rome didn't have much on us baby.

Out of the mouths

of sheeple......

This comment  is from someone who thinks they are a cutting edge, hip new age Civil Libertarian, in response to an unelected, unaccountable, appointed for life, Superior Court judge's ruling that prostitution laws are against the constitution.

It's about freaking time it is made legal, seriously when are we going to grow out of this "nanny" state of rules and condemnation with the holier than thou outlook.

It is an old profession that is not going to go away, ever......so tax...tax..and regulate.

Keep out the minors, keep out the pimps, install free condom dispensers in the brothel's
Sigh....we have a long way to go yet baby...

I ain't afraid of no Stupersuspicion

I was awaken at my trailer around 6 this morning to an intermittent banging sound coming from my "add a room". Lola was sitting at the end of my bed growling at the window that looks into that space. I look out on to the floor area and I see nothing, the table? Nothing. (It's a very small window) What the heck? Dogs getting feisty, yappy, louder banging from the room and it all had to wait while I  threw something decent on (this is a family camp area after all) secure the killer dogs, so I can go out and see what is going on. As soon as I turn around a huge thud on the very window I was looking out of. What the heck is going on????

Did a raccoon some how open the door and get stuck in there? Nope.

I was amazed by what I found. A crow, a big ugly black crow ,( Ewwww very bad Mojo, karma, omen those crows things are) was flying around like crazy trying to crash it's way back out. I don't think the screens are made to withstand the tantrums of an irate adult crow. How the heck did that get in there?????? The door is still closed for crying out loud, I had to go thru the room and open the door and generally shooooo the ugly, in temperament and looks, intruder  out and all I could think of was Poe's poem the Raven and Lenore.

"Sir," said I, "or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;

But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,

And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,

That I scarce was sure I heard you"--

O.K so weird stuff goes threw my head when I'm not really awake and confronted by the bizarre.....who knew?

Lenore, lenore....I don't believe in omens, not what so ever, just a freaky thing that happens when you are out in the country. Right?Thank goodness it didn't happen last Friday the 13th. Not that I believe in stupersuspicions, omens, or that sort nonsense, but still............weird.

Wish I had the presence of mind to take a picture of that angry crow perched atop the cattleman's chair......dang.

You mean he lied to get into your panties?

never say so...Thats unheard of.

Sabbar Kashur, 30, was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Monday after the court ruled that he was guilty of rape by deception. According to the complaint filed by the woman with the Jerusalem district court, the two met in downtown Jerusalem in September 2008 where Kashur, an Arab from East Jerusalem, introduced himself as a Jewish bachelor seeking a serious relationship. The two then had consensual sex in a nearby building before Kashur left.

So she meets a guy and he tells her he is a Jew and wants an old ball and chain, same day she gives up the honey looking to purchase said man's future potential earnings, wallet and assets with apparently her only asset. (because brains certainly aren't in her mix)
When she later found out that he was not Jewish but an Arab, she filed a criminal complaint for rape and indecent assault.
Well colour me old fashioned, moralistic and all but maybe, just maybe if she like ..talked to him, knew him more then two hours before forking over in the hopes of entrancing him with her horizontal moves, she might have figured this out all on her itty bitty own?

Because you gotta know if he was indeedy Jewish he would have been her soul mate and father of all her inseminated eggs. He would have called back, it would have all worked out perfectly according to her plans. That must be how it plays out in her mind.

Segal said: "The court is obliged to protect the public interest from sophisticated, smooth-tongued criminals who can deceive innocent victims at an unbearable price – the sanctity of their bodies and souls. When the very basis of trust between human beings drops, especially when the matters at hand are so intimate, sensitive and fateful, the court is required to stand firmly at the side of the victims – actual and potential – to protect their wellbeing. Otherwise, they will be used, manipulated and misled, while paying only a tolerable and symbolic price."

Sorry I had to go find something to retch in......Unbearable price? Sanctity of bodies and souls? Innocent victims? Intimate, fateful and sensitive? What the hell are they yapping about? Again no personal responsibility here for little Miss fork it over in a few hours. Can she chalk it up on the bedpost for experience sake? Hell no not our victim......Poor women they still neeeed protecting from the oldest game in the world don't cha know.

I can't believe a real court did this.....scratch that, I can believe it, I just don't want to.

A Question for the ages.

Why is it when you throw four or five prepubescent girl creatures in a tent the only noise heard from it always qualifies as pure torture? Why is the decibel ratio always squared by a factor every time you just add one more? And why, oh why, can't boys just  leave the squealing girl creatures the heck alone so the noise will subside.....

Hey! Boys! Just leave those girls alone!......I need the cone of silence or a pot of coffee. :O)

Holly Cow Did I ever feel that......

Having a quiet moment all to my self, this is a rare moment indeed, this afternoon and all of a sudden this rumbling sound coupled with a slight vibrating motion...waves of increasing intensifying movement to a receding in intensity. Holy Cow I have felt our version of earth quakes before, but never one that has gone on for over a minute or become so strong. The whole house shook and it seemed that the walls were doing a wee bit of a dance. No apparent damage that I can see.

Heh...both of man's best friend merely lifted their heads from their naps. Not even a bark to be heard....Oh well carry on then.

Update: Radio reports it was a 5.7, the center about 50 clicks from me, (I think it is anyway )just about the strongest we have had in this area in a very long time.

Brought this song to mind.

I know it doesn't exactly fit, but it works for me O.K. ?

Take two Librium

and call your psycho analysts in the morning.

Seems someone at the other Grey Lady is having birthing issues, to give birth or to obliterate all births in order to, yup you got it, save the world. This place is just tooo awful and painful  a place to justify birthing more. Of course it is awful and ugly place at times, human beings have the capacity for monumental cruelty that they don't hesitate to perpetuate upon their fellows, but your answer dude is silly and beyond comprehension, egads some folks take themselves waaaaay too seriously and they hope you do too.

Peter singer asks the hard questions over at the Times. Should this be the last generation? have a full stomach before you wade into this cess pool of self hatred and of all humanoids.

"Is a world with people in it better than one without? Put aside what we do to other species — that’s a different issue. Let’s assume that the choice is between a world like ours and one with no sentient beings in it at all....No one’s rights will be violated — at least, not the rights of any existing people. Can non-existent people have a right to come into existence?"

"Few of us would think it right to inflict severe suffering on an innocent child, even if that were the only way in which we could bring many other children into the world. Yet everyone will suffer to some extent, and if our species continues to reproduce, we can be sure that some future children will suffer severely."

"Even if we take a less pessimistic view of human existence than Benatar, we could still defend it, because it makes us better off — for one thing, we can get rid of all that guilt about what we are doing to future generations — and it doesn’t make anyone worse off, because there won’t be anyone else to be worse off..."

"Is life worth living? Are the interests of a future child a reason for bringing that child into existence? And is the continuance of our species justifiable in the face of our knowledge that it will certainly bring suffering to innocent future human beings?"

Oh boy, Peter the meaning of life is not to go about without suffering during your existence. How could you go about even the MOST self absorbed life and NOT get that? (God the sixties really went awry didn't they?) How could you miss something so big and so basic and still  have two brain cells left over to rub together?

Peter? Lighten up dude it's all attitude don't cha know?

I see Crazy People

(Yeah I know silence for weeks and then whammo three in a row, what can I say I almost feel human again. :) )

This one is a real head scratcher for sure, but then maybe not,

Federal officials are hoping film director James Cameron can help them come up with ideas on how to stop the disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

After all this the USA government  I'm talking about.
